Exams

All exams are composed of multiple choice and true/false questions.

All exams are closed book, closed notes and are 50 minutes long.

All exams use a Scantron form which is provided.  Please bring a pencil and eraser.

You will be penalized 5 points if you fail to fill in the bubbles for your name and SMU student ID number on the Scantron form.

In-class exams 54%

There are three in-class exams. Exams cover all textbook material, even if not discussed in class, media articles, assigned readings, videos, and speakers (if utilized).  Exams are not comprehensive and only cover material introduced since the last exam.

Missed exams may be made-up within 7 day with an excused absence without penalty.  Missed exams may be made-up within 7 day with an unexcused absence with a 20 point penalty. Contact your instructor to schedule a make-up in their office. The last in-class exam must be made up within 3 days.

Exam grades are posted on Blackboard when they become available.

 

Lab exam 15%

There is one comprehensive lab exam that covers material that you work on in lab such as Word and Excel and general computer usage.  It may also contain questions of relevant material that is discussed in the classroom lectures. It does not take the entire lab time.  Missed exams may be made-up within 3 days with an excused absence without penalty.  Missed exams may be made-up within 3 days with an unexcused absence with a 20 point penalty. Contact your instructor to schedule a make-up in their office.

 

No Comprehensive Final Course Exam!
