Janne Ackerman

Janne Ackerman is presently Director for the Precision Strike and Airborne Surveillance (PSAS) Engineering Center within the Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) business of Raytheon. Janne’s responsibilities include ensuring the effectiveness and efficiency of nearly 1,200 engineers and technicians deployed on SAS programs based in the North Texas region. She is accountable for the strategic improvement of engineering with respect to execution, technology, process, and people capabilities.

Janne previously served in a dual role as the technical director and the engineering manager for the Integrated Systems (IS) Product Line within Raytheon’s Electronic Systems (ES). She oversaw the research and development of reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition systems for the U.S. Army’s Objective Force and was responsible for the short- and long-term technology roadmaps that guided decisions on internal research and development investments.

Janne has over twenty years experience in radar and electro-optic (infrared) sensors and systems. Her expertise includes real-time software development, systems engineering, and engineering management. Janne was selected a Senior Principal Engineer with Honors for her outstanding technical contributions throughout her career.

In addition to her duties as a manager, Janne is actively involved in Raytheon’s Diversity Initiative, chaired both the Women’s Leadership Network and the ES North Texas Engineering People Strategy Team, served on the region’s Technical Council, and co-chaired the Diversity Council.

Janne received her BS in Mathematics from the University of Oklahoma and her MS in Software Engineering from Southern Methodist University. She is an alumnus of Leadership America, a private pilot, and was profiled by WITI in June 2002 during their Women in Technology Month. She and her husband, Garry, have two daughters and reside in Plano, Texas.
