One of the highest-ranking women within the semiconductor industry, Shelton is recognized as an industry expert and a success within the business world. Her ability to evaluate situations and opportunities, initiate and implement a strategic plan of action, and exceed stated objectives has made her a valuable resource to companies, organizations and the community.

Shelton began her career at Cyrix Corporation, where she became part of a three-person executive team that led the company’s initial public offering (IPO). In this role, she impressed the investment banking community with her broad understanding of the semiconductor industry and Cyrix’s place within it. Her positioning of Cyrix to the industry and the media as a formidable competitor to Intel Corporation resulted in hundreds of articles, including feature stories in Forbes and BusinessWeek.

In 1994, she started her agency, Shelton, initially to help public companies manage the IPO process. In 1997, Shelton focused the firm to serve a niche market of new, privately held technology companies. Broadening the scope to provide the critical, strategic counsel and services start-ups need for company and product launches and pre-IPO and post-IPO phases, she expanded the firm’s offerings to include public relations, marketing, investor relations and creative services. Shelton has grown the agency into one of the most recognized communications firms in the Southwest, ranked among the nation’s most prestigious. In 2003, Shelton was recognized among the Dallas Business Journal’s “Top 25 PR Agencies in the Metroplex” and was ranked in the top third of PR Week’s “Top PR Agency Rankings.”

Simultaneously, while building her communications firm, Shelton took her idea for a new trade association to several leading fabless semiconductor companies and formed the Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA). Transforming the industry with more than 400 corporate members to date, the global association publishes several benchmarking surveys and serves as a frequent expert resource to CNBC, The Wall Street Journal, Investor’s Business Daily and industry trade publications. In her role as executive director of the FSA, Shelton has been an industry advocate during governmental hearings and issues campaigns. Because she has also been charged with expanding the organization globally, Shelton helped the FSA launch its Asian headquarters in Taiwan in October 2003.

Shelton is a frequent speaker at industry events, has authored numerous articles for industry and business publications, and been featured by several media, including Electronic News, Dallas Business Journal, PR Week, PR Tactics, Exclusively Dallas, WFAA-TV’s High Tech Texas, Texas Technology and Texas Woman, among others.
