The Mid-Cities Technical Club of Arlington will begin its new season this September. To date, we have three programs scheduled for this fall as shown below. As was the case last year, the club will meet the first Wednesday of every month with the new season beginning this September. The meetings begin at 7:00 am on the UTA campus, Rady Room of Nedderman Hall (Sixth Floor) , corner of Border and Cooper. A full breakfast is served. A ten dollar fee is requested to help pay for the breakfast and program. Attendance continues to be open to the public this coming year.
A brochure on the club and membership application forms will be available. Please plan to attend and notify your friends to come as well. Future meetings will be held the first Wednesday of every month.
I would be happy to mail a brochure on the club and an application form. E-mail me your mailing address and I will send them ASAP.
This club, recently formed, is a branch of the Technical Club of Dallas, which is an old and respected organization that has served the DFW area for over eighty years.
Founded in 1919, the mission of the TC of D has been to promote the interchange of ideas in the design and development, as well as implementation of technology, especially in the field of social, civic and professional advancement of the various technical professions. It has served to broaden the acquaintances of members of the professions, as well as broaden the technical knowledge of the members through presentations of accomplished professions.
The objective of the new chapter will be to provide a forum for which members in the mid-cities area can meet and interchange ideas, to increase and make available information about the rapidly changing environment of high-technology fields, and to keep abreast of changing programs and technological advances that are occurring at UTA and the surrounding area. We anticipate that benefits from club participation will flow not only to industry participants, but also to the academic community that could improve the educational process and enhance research and development in a variety of needed areas.
Monthly breakfast meetings are planned for the first Wednesday of every month, excluding holiday periods and the summer months. Respected speakers from local, state, national and the international technical community will discuss a wide range of technology issues of interest and importance to members. For members, annual dues will be assessed, but are anticipated to be only a nominal fee to pay for various administrative costs.
We would also like you to consider joining this new initiative in the mid-cities area. Please let us know of your plans to attend: Telephone 817-272-2571, fax number 817-272-2548, or let me know by e-mail wimberly@uta.edu.
