The oil pan had a crack where the bottom panel was welded to it. I cut out the crack and prepared the part for welding. The oil pan was full of oil for years, so you can bet the crack was also full of oil. I drained the pan for a month, then filled it with solvent for a few days, then sprayed out the crack with carb cleaner, and finally boiled some water in the oil pan in an oven for an hour or so.
