Making a harness bar

After signing up for a track day at one of my favorite race tracks (Texas World Speedway, not much to look at but a GREAT driver's track), I decided to install a racing harness. This would mean either the installation of a roll cage (no way, it's still my daily driver) or the installation of a harness bar. Of course, until Hardbar gets their MINI Cooper model through prototyping and into production (should happen in February 2005 or so, which instantly dates this article), the only harness bars available are one-size-misfits-all bars such as the ones offered by IOPort racing.

So first I had to design and build a harness bar before I could install it. This is my one page of notes on the subject, taken in mid-December 2004. Yes, my handwriting is awful. The longer I stay in school, the worse it gets. By the time I finish my PhD it will be illegible to most people. This seems to be a normal progression for some reason.
