These two files were taken from a recording made by an old VHS camcorder mounted in my GTV racecar back in 1995. This is the sound of the Valco twinspark racing engine as redlined at about 7800 RPM (not the full 8200 RPM, unfortunately). The recordings were made during the 1995 Chicago Historics at Road America, Wisconsin.

This is the sound of an F1 engine (1997 Jordan Mugen-Honda) started in the pits, idled
for a second, and then pulled out for a hot lap. It is an amazing recording.
