In the year 2000, I received my bachelors of science in civil engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran. After one year of working as a consultant engineer, I was sure that environmental engineering is what I want to do. I got admitted to the University of Tehran and received my masters with honors in September 2003. I did my thesis in the field of environmental geology under supervision of Prof. Fereydoun Ghazban. I then started my PhD here in environmental and civil engineering department at SMU under supervision of Professor Al Armendariz. My main research interest is particulate control and I am doing my dissertation on electrostatic control of diesel particulate matter. I am also interested in epidemiology and adverse health effects of nanoparticles.
