Chen-wei Huang

 

Ph.D. Student

 

Chen-wei Huang received his BSEE degree from Fu Jen Catholic University, Taipei, Taiwan, in 2004. He joined Dr. Gui’s lab in May 2007 and got his MSEE degree from SMU in Dec. 2008.  He is currently working toward his Ph.D. degree in EE at SMU. His research interests include analog and digital IC design, and low power and low-jitter frequency synthesizer design.

Daniel Camacho

 

Ph.D. Student

 

Daniel Camacho received his BSEE degree from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogota, Colombia. He joined Dr. Gui’s lab at SMU in Jan. 2008 and got his MSEE degree in Aug. 2009.  He is currently working toward his Ph.D. degree in EE at SMU. His research is focused in analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit design. His main areas of interest are PLL, frequency synthesizers, voltage regulators, and high voltage IC applications.

Alex Gao

 

Ph.D. Student

 

Alex Gao received his BSEE degree from Dalian University of Technology, Dalian China in 2006, and MSEE with concentration on analog IC design from University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida in 2008. During 2007-2008, he worked as an intern in Intel Corporation and Texas Instruments, Inc.  He joined Dr. Gui’s lab at SMU in May 2009 and is currently pursuing his Ph.D. degree. His research focus is on high-voltage high-performance analog IC design for ultrasonic devices and instruments.

Marvin Harris

 

Ph.D. Student

 

Marvin Harris received his BSEE from Purdue University in 1997 and MSEE degree from Georgia Tech in 1998.  He is a licensed professional in the state of Texas. He is currently a full-time employee and has been working with TriQuint Semiconductor for the past 10 years. Marvin enrolled in SMU as a part-time Ph.D. student in Dr. Gui’s lab in 2005. His research focus is on Low Power Depletion Mode Only Logic for GaAs designs.

 

 

 

Nataly Pinilla Pico

 

M.S. Student

 

Nataly Pico received her BSEE from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogota, Colombia. She joined Dr. Gui’s lab at SMU in Jan. 2009 and is currently working toward her MSEE degree. Her areas of interest include Mixed-Signal Integrated Circuits (IC) Design and Digital Systems Design. Her current project is on high-resolution clock phase shifter as part of the Timing-Trigger-Control systems for CERN’s high-energy physics experiments.

Alexander (Jingxiao) Li

Alexander Li received his BSEE degree from the University of Electronic Science and Technology, Chengdu, China in 2009. He joined Dr. Gui’s lab at SMU in Aug. 2009 and is currently working toward his MSEE degree. His research interests are analog and mixed-signal IC design. He is currently working on Single-Event Effect (SEE)- tolerant PLL design.

Arianna Welch

 

Undergraduate Student

 

Arianna Welch enrolled in the EE department at SMU in Aug. 2007. She is expected  to get her BSEE in May 2011. In addition to taking classes, she is currently working as an undergraduate researcher at Dr. Gui’s lab, working on board- and system-level design and test.

Prof. Ping Gui received the B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern Polytechnic University, Xi’an, China and the Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Delaware. Prof. Gui joined SMU in 2004 and is currently an Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering.

 

Prof. Gui’s primary research interests are analog and mixed-signal IC design for various applications, including high-performance front-end transmitter and receiver circuitry for ultrasound medical instruments, radiation-tolerant IC design, frequency synthesis, high-speed optical data links, and LDO voltage regulators for System-on-Chip applications.

 

Prof. Gui received CERN’s Scientific Associate Award in 2008 and 2009 and is a senior member of IEEE.
